Three constables at the same police station tested Coronavirus positive
Shaily Bansal’s death asks a serious question to the Police administration, Delhi government and the Central government, will she be a Corona warrior?
Shaily, a 23 years old Delhi Police lady constable took her last breath on 25th May at the Jaypee Hospital, Noida. She was posted in the Northeast Delhi, Nand Nagari Police Station. She started complaining of fever, headache and vomiting and immediately on 3rd May she was admitted to Kailash Hospital.
Death report does not declare Shaily Bansal coronavirus as cause of death
The death report of Jaypee Hospital states that cause of death was Acute Meningoencephalitis (Known as Dimagi Bukhar in Hindi), Stress Cardiomyopathy and Shock (Refractory).
3 constable who used to work in the same shift with Shaily were found positive in the coronavirus test.
Shaliy Bansal, was later admitted on 4th May in the Jaypee Hospital and was put in the corona isolation ward of the hospital. She had a sore throat and fever when she was admitted.
The lady constable recovered for a few hours and even talked to her family but then couldn’t recognize her family via video calling. Before this, she tested negative in COVID-19 test twice on 4th May and 9th May.
The family wants authorities to declare her a Corona warrior
Brother of Shaily Bansal, Kuldeep Bansal while talking to our reporter said that if a “coronavirus test was done after 9th May, when Shaily started feeling shortness of breath, she could have been found COVID-19 positive. Despite being a poor family we are not getting any help from the government. She was on duty when he experienced fever on 2nd May, so we should get some compensation.”
AIIMS Dr Vijay Kumar said that firstly sample for coronavirus is taken from throat and nose but if the result comes negative then a sample can be taken from the spinal cord to find if the patient has coronavirus or not.
The family of Shaily Bansal is asking the authorities to declare Shaily as the Corona Warrior, so they could get the social security from the government’s compensation plan.
They are also asking for a government job for Shaily’s younger brother. Shaily before joining Delhi police on May 16, 2018, went through many hardships to achieve the post. Her parents had high hopes from her to get the family out of poverty.
The family runs a dairy business and it is the only source of income left for them now.
We tried to reach Jaypee Hospital Noida to know their point of view but we didn’t get any reply despite several attempts. We also tried to reach the DCP of North East Delhi for his comments but he didn’t pick our calls.
