Draupadi had a child with each of the Pandav brothers. Various pieces of information available on the internet give us a hint that Draupadi loved Arjun the most. Some even said that Draupadi loved all the Pandavs equally. This is what makes her stand apart in the Mahabharat. She was impartial and became the strength of the Pandavs.

However, it would be interesting to find out which of the 5 husbands loved Draupadi the most?

Was it Arjun, who won her in Swayamvar? Was it the noble Yudhishthira? Was it the powerful Bheem, handsome Nakul, or the intelligent and patient Sehdev?

All Pandavs respected Draupadi. Though they valued dharma more than any other person. Amongst all, Bheema loved Draupadi the most. How? Let us decode some important incidents of the epic which help justify Bheema’s love for Draupadi.

Crosses all the hurdles just for a flower

Bheema pratigya

Bheema was the one who protected her every single time. When Krishna helped Draupadi during her disrobing in front of everyone, the angry Bheema tooks the oath he would slay Duryodhana as he showed Draupadi his thigh and told her to sit on it (though she didn’t). He was also against Draupadi’s gambling but was stopped by Arjun.

Not bothered of consequences

Within King Virata’s kingdom, Pandavs and Draupadi were in disguise for the 13th year of hiding. Draupadi was disguised as Sairandhri and once Kichak, Queen Sudeshna’s brother saw her and wanted to have her. Draupadi was molested by Kichak. But Yudhistr overlooked Draupadi’s condition and advised her to forget it as an outcry could expose them. However, Bheema fought with Kichak and slew him. When the Kichak people saw this, they forcefully carried Draupadi to burn her along with Kichak.

She called Bheema and Yudhisthira for help. Bheema uprooted one tree and flung it toward the people who held Draupadi. Thus, they let go of Draupadi in fear of Bheema. King Virata understood that Draupadi wasn’t ordinary and instead, welcomed her to the palace.

A man of his words

Bheema killed 100 Kaurav to avenge the insult of Draupadi. Bheema took a vow that he would slay all the 100 Kaurav. On the 14th day of the Mahabharat war, he drank blood from Dushasana’s chest. Moreover, to fulfill Draupadi’s pledge he carried the deceased’s blood to Panchali and sprayed it on her head. Only after that, did Draupadi tie her hair after 15 long years.

Till death do us part

It is also said that, during the journey to heaven, Bheema carried Draupadi in his arms as she was unable to walk through the dense jungle. Draupadi was the 1st one to fall on the journey and no brother even bothered to look behind. However, Bheema ran to her and held her until she rested in peace. Despite his helpless state, he asked Draupadi if he could do anything for her.

Draupadi replied and asked Bheema to be born as the eldest in their next life, so they could all live happily and safely. Draupadi wept and died in the arms of Bheema. He cried like an infant in her final moments.

All these incidents prove the immense love of Bheema towards Draupadi who couldn’t see her in pain and was ready to fight against all the world to protect his lady’s respect. We can surely say Bheema loved Draupadi the most.
