Before the sessions began, the leaders posed for a group photo, capturing the essence of BRICS cooperation. South African President Cyril Ramaphosa held hands with PM Modi and Premier Xi Jinping in a symbol of unity, but interestingly, the two prominent leaders stood apart.

The summit was not only about political engagements; a cultural performance and a banquet dinner hosted by President Ramaphosa were also scheduled. PM Modi, who arrived in South Africa to a warm reception, emphasised India’s potential to become a 5 trillion dollar economy and a global growth engine during his address at the BRICS Business Forum Leaders’ Dialogue. He stressed the importance of mutual trust and transparency, especially among Global South nations, to make a substantial impact.
