Nepal Govt banned non-essential Helicopter flights after a deadly crash in the Himalayan range.

Nepal Govt. has banned non-essential helicopter flights for two months after a deadly crash of a small helicopter in the Himalayan range in which 6 people were killed.

On Tuesday, five Mexican tourists and a Nepali pilot of a small helicopter operated by a private company, Manang Air, were killed. They had gone for sight-seeing of the Everest Range. Their chopper crashed ‘while returning’, in the Everest range. And all the travelers including the pilot were killed in the crash.

After the incident Nepal Govt. has banned all helicopter flights which were not that important or not doing any essential work.

This ban includes flights like mountain flights, external load operations (sling flights) and showering of flowers by helicopters (will) be restricted till September,” as said by the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) in a twitter post, late night on Wednesday.  

Nepal Govt has initiated an investigation team in the midst of June-September Monsoon season to find out what caused Tuesday’s crash.

The Himalayan nation, home to eight of the world’s 14 tallest mountain peaks including Mount Everest, has a history of air crashes, as many airlines fly from small airports to these remote hills and peaks often get crashed.
