In a move marking the 15th anniversary of the tragic Mumbai terror attacks, Israel has taken a significant step by officially labelling Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) as a terror organisation. This decision, made independently without a formal request from the Indian government, holds immense importance.

The Israeli Embassy completed all necessary procedures to declare LeT as a terror outfit. Their statement clarified that while Israel usually lists organisations directly affecting its borders or those recognized globally by the UNSC or the US State Department, this designation of LeT is a special and accelerated effort to underline the need for a united global front against terrorism.

The Mumbai attacks on November 26, 2008, had a profound impact, with two Israeli nationals among the victims at the Chabad Lubavitch Jewish centre, known as the Chabad House. Gabriel Holtzberg and Rivka Holtzberg were among the six Jewish victims, and their loss echoes still.

The embassy strongly condemned LeT, terming it a “deadly and reprehensible terror organisation” responsible for the murder of many Indians. They emphasised that the horrific actions of LeT on that fateful day continue to resonate across nations striving for peace.

Expressing sincere condolences to all victims of terrorism, survivors, and bereaved families of the Mumbai attacks, the Embassy of Israel extended solidarity to those affected in Israel by this tragic event. Their message stood as a pledge for a peaceful future, united with those impacted by the devastating consequences of terrorism.

“We stand with you, united in the hope for a better, peaceful future,” the Embassy of Israel affirmed.
