There is no doubt that the movie Barbie has broken records. The movie has received a lot of praise and people are still going to the theatres to watch it. And based on this success, Mattel has bigger plans for Barbie in Hollywood. 

The movie opened at $155 million in the domestic market and also has the largest opening weekend for a movie directed by a woman.

What does Mattel do?

Its Twitter description reads- “We are a creations company that inspires the wonder of childhood!”

It is also the manufacturer of the iconic Barbie doll and the recent success of the movie has made the company dream bigger and reveal its plan for a Mattel Cinematic Universe. 

What is the Mattel Cinematic Universe?

The success of Barbie has helped the makers of Barbie dolls reveal their big plans for other products of theirs. In total, Mattel has already started planning for 14 properties. These include-

There is also a possibility of a Barbie sequel in the future and turning it into a franchise. For Mattel, the idea is not just to be a toy’s company but go beyond that and create a universe of their own.
