At the event, Shah Rukh Khan observed that director Atlee and several ‘Jawan’ team members were seated for a photo. Without hesitation, he positioned himself in front and reclined on the floor, striking a stylish pose. This modest action not only endeared SRK to his fans but also deeply impressed Atlee. When asked about Shah Rukh Khan’s down-to-earth demeanour, Atlee described him as an exceptionally uncomplicated individual.

SRK’s Surprise Call-In Atlee’s Journey

Recalling his initial encounter with Shah Rukh Khan and the circumstances that led to their collaboration, Atlee shared, “While I was engrossed in filming ‘Bigil,’ I received an unexpected call from Shah Rukh sir’s team. I promptly flew to Mumbai to meet him, a moment I’ll cherish forever. With utmost humility, he expressed his desire to work with me, which caught me off guard. I replied, ‘Sir, it’s a tremendous honour, but I’ve only directed four films.’ He reassured me, saying, ‘You can do it; just create an Atlee film for me. I want to be a part of your world.’ So, I returned to Chennai, spent eight months crafting the script, and ‘Jawan’ was born.”

‘Jawan’ continues its impressive run at the box office, entering the esteemed Rs 800 crore club worldwide, according to trade analyst Manobala Vijayabalan. Atlee regards this success as a significant responsibility, stating, “The triumph fills me with joy and boosts my confidence. After ‘Jawan,’ my obligations to the audience have grown. I must be even more accountable in my future endeavours.”

This collaboration with Shah Rukh Khan has not only been professionally rewarding for Atlee but has also heightened his stature in the film industry, bringing him global recognition and added responsibilities as a filmmaker.
