Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath recently handed over keys to 76 flats that were constructed on land seized from former gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed in Prayagraj. Atiq Ahmed had been murdered while in police custody two months earlier. The flats, built as part of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana housing scheme, were inaugurated by Chief Minister Adityanath, who personally presented the keys to the beneficiaries during the residential complex’s opening. In his speech, Adityanath highlighted that prior to 2017, criminals could unlawfully capture land belonging to the underprivileged, leaving them helpless.
