In a devastating turn of events, Bihar witnessed a heartbreaking loss of 22 lives due to drowning in various districts within the past 24 hours. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar expressed his heartfelt condolences and declared a compensation of Rs 4 lakh for the families of each victim. According to an official statement from the Chief Minister’s Office, the incidents occurred in different locations, including Bhojpur, Jahanabad, Patna, Rohtas, Darbhanga, Nawada, Kaimur, and Aurangabad.

Selfie Tragedy at Jitiya Festival

A heart-wrenching incident unfolded in Bhojpur, where four young girls and a woman tragically drowned while attempting to take selfies while bathing along the banks of the Son river in the Chandi police station area. This tragic incident occurred during the Jitiya festival, as they had gathered near the river to celebrate.
