Punjab govt urged to act swiftly, while the Central govt. explores crop alternatives. Court extends pollution control directives to Rajasthan

The court urged the Punjab government to take immediate action, emphasizing that it’s their responsibility to tackle this issue effectively.

Moreover, the court shifted some responsibility to the Central government, suggesting that it should explore ways to incentivize farmers to switch to alternative crops rather than supporting the minimum support price for paddy. The idea of promoting millet as an alternative was also raised.

The Supreme Court extended its directives to other states, like Rajasthan, regarding the regulation of firecrackers during festive seasons. The court’s focus on minimizing air pollution and noise pollution during festivals demonstrates a commitment to improving air quality for everyone’s well-being.
