RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat emphasises the need for unity and peaceful coexistence among different communities. During a ceremony in Nagpur, he stressed the importance of Hindu-Muslim unity for the progress of the nation. Bhagwat acknowledged that while certain communities may have migrated from outside in the past, it is crucial to recognize that they are now an integral part of our society.

He said, “We fought against people who brought these communities from outside. It is imperative that we no longer view them as outsiders but as our own people and treat them accordingly. If there are any shortcomings in their thinking, it is our collective responsibility to enlighten and guide them.

Bhagwat also addressed the fear of losing one’s identity and highlighted the misconception that embracing the shared heritage of our motherland would diminish individual identities. He asserted that within India, our diverse identities are secure, and uniting with a common national identity does not undermine our individuality. In fact, those who struggle to find happiness and acceptance are often individuals who detach themselves from the core identity of their nation.

To foster unity, Bhagwat called for restraint in our interpersonal interactions and advocated for dialogue rather than disputes. He emphasised that our diversity should not be perceived as a division but rather as a unifying factor. He encouraged everyone to let go of past grievances and egos, enabling us to come together and work towards a harmonious society.

Reflecting on history, Bhagwat mentioned the global conflicts that occurred as Islam spread across different regions. However, he highlighted that peaceful coexistence has been established in India for centuries, enabling people of various faiths to thrive together. He emphasised that although our methods of prayer may differ, we all belong to this country, and our ancestors have deep roots here. It is essential for us to accept this reality and embrace the unity that arises from our shared homeland.
