Metro in Madhya Pradesh: Alstom delivered the first train set for the Bhopal-Indore Metro Project!

Alstom has delivered the first train set for the Madhya Pradesh Bhopal-Indore Metro Project, strengthening urban infrastructure in smart cities with cutting-edge, effective, and environmentally friendly transit options.

Metro in Madhya Pradesh: Alstom delivered the first Bhopal-Indore Metro train in a record time of 14.5 months!


The first train set for the Bhopal-Indore metro project has been successfully delivered by Alstom to the Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (MPMRCL). This train set, which was constructed in a record-breaking 14 and a half months following its Notice to Proceed (NTP), will be deployed to Indore and is scheduled to begin operations in April 2024. 

On August 26, 2023, the Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister launched the mock-up car in Smart City Park, Bhopal, in the presence of MPMRCL, the General Consultant, and Alstom.

By September 20, 2023, the second trainset is anticipated to be delivered and deployed to Bhopal. These ultra-modern, lightweight trains will travel between 30 stations along a 31-kilometre line in Bhopal and 29 stations along a 31.5 km line in Indore at a top speed of 80 km/h. Of the trainsets with a three-car arrangement, 27 will be for Bhopal and 25, for Indore. The capacity of the trains is 50 seated passengers and 300 standing passengers.

Oliver Loison, the managing director of Alstom India, expressed happiness with the results and noted that the Metro will modernize the infrastructure of Bhopal and Indore as a result of those towns being recognized as smart cities. These trains guarantee economic growth, affordability, safety, and dependability. In order to reimagine mass transit in Madhya Pradesh, Alstom confirms its commitment to India’s journey toward sustainable mobility.
