Imphal: In Manipur, amid ethnic violence, a devastating incident occurred where a mob of men stripped and paraded women, resulting in severe trauma for the victims and their families. One mother, grieving the loss of her husband and son, expressed deep anguish and accused the Manipur government of failing to protect its people and curb the violence. The violence erupted between the Meiteis and Kuki tribes, leading to over 120 deaths.

The affected woman, haunted by the brutal events, stated that her shattered family has no hope of returning to their village, which was ravaged by the conflict. With their houses and fields destroyed, she finds no possibility of going back to a place with shattered trust and painful memories.

Blaming the government’s inaction, the distressed mother decried the lack of control over the spiraling violence. The women who suffered the humiliating ordeal revealed that they were abandoned to the mob by the police, further highlighting the failure to protect the victims.
