Kailasa: The Fake Nation That Duped 30 US Cities

Nithyananda’s Fake Nation Fools 30 US Cities With Cultural Agreements

Kailasa, the ‘Fake Nation’ by Nithyananda has been successful in duping 30 US cities with cultural agreements.

What is the cultural agreement that duped 30 US cities?

According to a press note on Twitter, “Kailasa Establishes Sister City Relationships for Humanitarian Services and Global Peace” is an initiative of the nation to establish “sister city relationships with many cities around the world, including Newark, to continue our humanitarian services and promote global peace through a better understanding of diverse cultures.”

The aim of this sister city is to “promote cultural exchange and understanding, and our humanitarian services are meant to serve those in need regardless of their background. We hope that through these efforts, we can promote global peace and unity.”

The note also mentions that “we want to clarify that Kailasa and its representatives have not deceived anyone nor are we fake.”

Other than Newark, cities of Richmond, Virginia, Dayton, Ohio, Buena Park, Florida and more have also signed this “agreement”.

Who is Nithyananda and the United States of Kailasa (USK)?

Nithyananda is a spiritual guru hailing from Tamil Nadu, India, who founded the organization Nithyananda Dhyanapeetam with centres around the world. However, Nithyananda has been embroiled in several controversies, with accusations of crimes including rape, kidnapping, and fraud.

In 2019 he established a new country named the United States of Kailasa, which he claimed to be a sovereign state on the planet. He declared himself the supreme leader of Kailasa and issued passports, and currency, and even appointed ministers for the supposed nation. However, Kailasa is not recognized as a legitimate nation by the United Nations or any other international governing body.

That is not all, the ‘Nation’ also has a dedicated Website and Twitter handle which is very active and is constantly informing people about the ‘Kailasa Nation’ and what it is up to.

The website also offers e-Visa and e-Citizenship for Kailasa.

Where is Kailasa located?

Reports suggest that Nithyananda bought an island off the coast of Ecuador and named it Kailasa in honour of Mount Kailash which holds a lot of significance for Hindus. However, this is not confirmed.

Is Kailasa recognised as a Nation?

Kailasa has not been recognised as a Nation by the United Nations. To be recognised as a state the criteria of the Montevideo Convention have to be fulfilled.

The Montevideo Convention on the Rights and Duties of States is an international treaty signed in 1933 in Montevideo, Uruguay. The convention outlines the criteria for statehood, which includes a permanent population, a defined territory, a government, and the capacity to enter into relations with other states. The Montevideo Convention is considered a foundational document in international law, as it provides a framework for determining statehood and has been widely accepted by the international community.

Recently representatives of the fake nation United States of Kailasa (USK) also attended a session conducted by the United Nations Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (CESCR) in Geneva on 24th February.

Even though the UN does not recognise the ‘USK as a nation, they have been trying to show their presence and build a name so that people actually believe in the existence of this fake nation contrived by the fugitive godman Nithyananda.
