Gyanvapi Mosque Survey Resumes: ASI Investigates Possible Temple Origin. Security Enhanced, CM Urges Historical Acknowledgment. 

The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has resumed its scientific survey of the Gyanvapi mosque in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, to determine if it was built over a pre-existing Hindu temple structure. The survey had been stalled earlier but was allowed by the Allahabad High Court, prompting the mosque committee to challenge the order in the Supreme Court.

Survey Resumes, Security Tightened:

Security has been tightened around the mosque premises, and the survey is expected to continue until 12 pm. The UP Deputy CMs welcomed the order, stating that it would reveal the truth. CM Yogi Adityanath had previously urged the Muslim community to address historical mistakes and seek a resolution to the Gyanvapi-Kashi Vishwanath dispute. 

The state government clarified that it is only responsible for maintaining law and order and has no involvement in the survey. The Varanasi court had initially ordered the ASI survey on July 21, which was later halted by the Supreme Court for an appeal.
