Rescue Ops Race Amidst Uttarakhand Tragedy of Kedarnath Landslide!


In a devastating turn of events, a major landslide struck Uttarakhand’s Gaurikund, causing injuries to a dozen people and leaving numerous houses and shops in ruins. Rescue teams are racing against time to locate and retrieve 10 to 12 people who are feared to be buried or washed away by the Kedarnath Landslide . The incident has sparked a comprehensive search and rescue operation conducted by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).

The catastrophe occurred near Gauri Kund, and it has led to three shops being washed away in the river, as confirmed by Chamoli District Disaster Management Officer Nandan Singh Rajwar. Authorities have been tirelessly working to locate the missing individuals, but so far, no success has been reported. Circle Officer Vimal Rawat informed the media that the missing persons have not been found yet, even with the joint efforts of the NDRF and SDRF personnel.

As the operation unfolds, SP Rudraprayag, Dr. Visakha, shared that continuous heavy rainfall and falling boulders from the hillsides are posing significant challenges to the relief and rescue efforts. Despite these hurdles, the authorities are resolute in their efforts to find the missing individuals. Disaster Management Officer Dalip Singh Rajwar also stated that around 10-12 people were believed to be present at the scene, but their whereabouts remain unknown.

The situation is further compounded by the fact that some of the missing persons are from neighbouring Nepal, making the process of gathering information more complex. The missing individuals have been identified as Vinod (26), Mulayam (25), Ashu (23), Priyanshu Chamola (18), Ranbir Singh (28), Amar Bohra, his wife Anita Bohra, their daughters Radhika Bohra and Pinki Bohra, and their sons Prithvi Bohra (7), Jatil (6), and Vakil (3), as confirmed by officials.

In the aftermath of the disaster, the focus has shifted to launching comprehensive search and rescue operations to locate those missing and provide much-needed relief to the affected families. The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) has been at the forefront of these operations, working hand in hand with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).
