Delhi Nursery Admissions 2024: Key Details & Timelines

Delhi Nursery Admission 2024 for nursery, KG, and class 1 in private schools begins on November 23. Age limits, seat reservations, and admission criteria are detailed in this process.

Online registration for Delhi Nursery Admissions, KG, and class 1 in private schools starts Nov 23. 

Registration for Delhi Nursery Admission, KG, and class 1 admission in private schools for general category students will begin on November 23rd, with the last date for admission form submission set as December 15. The first list of selected candidates will be published on January 12th of the upcoming year.

Reserved Seats:

A 25% quota of seats is reserved for economically weaker sections (EWS), disadvantaged group (DG) students, and children with disabilities in private schools. Separate lists will be issued for these categories.

Age Limit Criteria:

Children must be three years old for nursery admission, four years old for KG admission, and five years old for Class 1 admission as of March 31st. The upper age limit for admission is below four years for pre-school, below five years for pre-primary, and six years for class 1. The notification allows for age relaxation of up to 30 days, subject to the school’s discretion.

Monitoring Cell:

The Directorate of Education (DoE) has mandated the establishment of a monitoring cell in each district, headed by the district’s deputy director. Their role is to ensure schools adhere to the timeline for publishing admission criteria, maintain transparency in the admission process, and refrain from using criteria abolished by the department.

Admission Criteria Deadline:

Schools are required to upload their admission criteria and points on the online module by November 20. In the case of a tie, a random draw will be conducted in the presence of parents, recorded on video, and retained by the school.

Prospectus and Registration Fee:

Parents don’t need to purchase a prospectus when submitting an admission form. Only a registration fee of Rs 25 can be charged.

Parents may seek age relaxation through a manual application from January 13 to January 22, following the publication of the initial list.
