A new study reveals the WHO claim that mosquito can’t carry and infect COVID-19
In India, with the monsoon, comes mosquitoes. Mosquitoes being the flag bearer of transmitting diseases have become a concern for people. People want to know how likely it is for them to get COVID-19 infection if mosquitoes bite them.
A recent study has provided the first experimental evidence that mosquitoes can not carry or infect people with coronavirus. A study published in the journal Scientific Reports says that they have enough conclusive data that suggests that mosquitoes cannot transmit the deadly COVID-19 infection.
What do experts believe?
Earlier, WHO had made it quite clear that there is no evidence till date to suggest that mosquitos can transmit the novel coronavirus. World Health Organization in its Mythbusters column says infected droplets from the mouths and noses of COVID-19 infected person is the key route of coronavirus transmission. WHO reiterates that frequent hand washing should be carried out as it is the best way to protect oneself against the virus?
The US Centers for Disease Control (CDC) says it has no data which could suggest that COVID-19 can be spread by mosquito.

Why mosquitoes can’t infect us?
Although there isn’t an established theory, still experts believe that for a mosquito to infect any individual, first it needs to become infected with the SARS-COV2 virus by biting a person who has COVID-19. And once the mosquito is infected, it will then inject the virus into another person. But COVID-19 is a respiratory virus that is almost exclusively contained within the respiratory tract and lungs of infected people, and rarely gets into the blood.
Mosquito’s process of transmitting diseases like Zika fever, Filariasis, Malaria, Dengue includes feeding on the blood of an infected person, and then infecting that blood into another person. Well, coronavirus rarely gets into the blood, mosquitoes can’t be affected,and therefore, they can’t infect anyone.
Also, for any virus to transmit to a person through any mosquito or other kind of insect bite, the virus must be able to replicate inside the insect or the mosquito. Neither the new novel coronavirus nor any other type of earlier coronavirus has been shown to do that.
