Kulgam Man Aiding Terrorists Drowns While Escaping Security Forces: Shocking Incident Caught On Camera

On a shocking and tragic note, a 23-year-old youth Imtiyaz Ahmad Magray died in Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir; drowned in the Veshaw River while allegedly trying to escape from security personnel. He has been accused of actually helping terrorists by providing them food and shelter in the forested area of Tangmarg. Footage of the entire incident has gone viral, igniting controversy and panic alike.

As per official sources, Magray was taken into police custody for some questioning on Saturday. It was during the interrogation that he apparently confessed to having aided terrorists as their logistic and supportive factor. Following this, he agreed to accompany a combined team of army and police towards a suspected hideout of terrorists in the region.

Dramatic turns, however, came into the plot on a Sunday early morning with his complete breaking away from the forces while traversing near the Veshaw River. An overhead video was captured at the moment he suddenly dashed toward the river and jumped in. The fast-moving current of the rocky river thrashed his efforts to swim and eventually swept him away. Tragically, Magray drowned with all the forces watching from a distance and could not intervene in time.

The hard-spresd video that has made much cyber rounds shows Magray alone at the time of escape; this nullifies some other hypotheses based on forced entry or physical contention. However, it really led to political muck-raking. Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Mehbooba Mufti tweeted specifics regarding Moc’ death. She said: “Yet another body has been recovered from a river in Kulgam raising serious allegations of foul play. Local residents allege that Imtiyaz Magray was picked up by the army two days ago and now mysteriously his body has surfaced in the river.”

While Mufti has upended scrutiny at its best, security forces, too, have denied ever committing crimes. They condemned all efforts to spread more misapprehensions and clarified that Magray was actually not in custody at the moment of his escape. He was voluntarily leading the team to a terrorist hideout, and his decision to run away was spontaneous and unexpected.

This incident has drawn yet another case of involvement of local people aiding militants in Kashmir, making it really tough to keep these ongoing anti-terror operations at bay. Authorities reiterate that community cooperation is very crucial to stopping such activities and emphasize the need for truth beyond political speculation.

While the investigations are on, the unfortunate demise of Imtiyaz Ahmad Magray has made a place in the corridors of conflict in reminders of the complex and human costs in such areas like Kashmir.
