KL Rahul Silently Responds to Sanjiv Goenka With Bat and Body Language in DC’s Victory Over LSG

KL Rahul shines for DC with a match-winning half-century vs LSG, then ignores former boss Sanjiv Goenka in a moment that went viral online.

KL Rahul Gives Sanjiv Goenka the Cold Shoulder After Leading Delhi Capitals to Emphatic Win Over LSG in IPL 2025

Coming back to a face-off against his former team – the Lucknow Super Giants- was KL Rahul. Presently an open contingent, the Delhi Capitals were trying to back their chances for playoffs from this match. But for Rahul, it was personal: not only was he hoping to let his bat make a statement, but he could also have some unfinished business with his heart.

And he paid off. Rahul, now draped in DC colours, set the stage with a calm and strategic half-century. Not a whirlwind knock but a calculated, match-defining innings that helped Delhi close the game’s fate with a resounding 8-wicket victory. In a poetic final act, he also struck the winning runs, adding to what already promised to be a redemption arc.

However, it was the post-match action that most aroused people’s interest. As players and backroom staff indulged in exchanging handshakes, Rahul shared a notably brief cold exchange with LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka. The video captured went viral on social media, whereby fans interpreted it as Rahul’s subtle way of saying he has moved on – and perhaps hasn’t quite forgotten old wounds.

This was more than just a touch of frost in the handshake. Goenka was famous last season for having what appeared to be a fervent chat with Rahul after a few poor shows. The general thinking at the time was that Rahul was getting lots of unfair blame. Roll on 2025, however, and Rahul has seemingly pulled a George altogether by going to the Capitals.

With this latest knock out, Rahul not only made his mark by completing his third half-century this season but also made his entry into the IPL record books by becoming the fastest batsman to reach the milestone of 5000 runs – outstripping the likes of David Warner and Virat Kohli in the process. That’s no small feat by any stretch of the imagination and speaks volumes about the consistency and quality that he brings to the T20 format.

While Rahul was seen winning himself back from the arid performance during the time of Goenka ownership, the stark contrast was what made this storyline even richer. In a way, this match was Rahul’s response to last season’s burning questions, and he let his bat do all the talking.

The momentum surely rests with the Delhi Capitals as they look forward to taking on the Royal Challengers Bengaluru next at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. With the expected 16 points almost confirming a playoff chance, winning a couple of additional matches would ensure a smooth passage, but should KL Rahul continue with this form, DC’s journey may well stretch deep into the business end of the tournament.
