Meenakshi Lekhi, who reached Parliament by defeating Ajay Maken, who was a minister in the UPA government for two consecutive terms from the New Delhi Lok Sabha constituency, has a great record in Parliament in the last eight years. However, she has been given the post of Minister of State. MP from New Delhi twice

Born on 30 April 1967 in New Delhi, Meenakshi Lekhi became MP from New Delhi for two consecutive terms. For the first time in 2014, contested from the BJP ticket for the first time and waved the flag of victory. After this, she again contested the Lok Sabha elections from the same seat in 2019 and won again.

Meenakshi Lekhi is a well-known advocate of the Supreme Court

It is being said about PM Modi’s new cabinet that Meenakshi Lekhi, who is going to be included in the youngest team, is a lawyer by profession and in addition to many tribunals, she has been a lawyer in the Delhi High Court and today she is a well-known lawyer of the Supreme Court. As an advocate, she put and fought prominently in the courts on women’s issues, especially domestic violence, family disputes, and permanent commission issues for women in the Armed Forces.

Lekhi’s suggestion to change the name of Race Course Road

After becoming an MP, Lekhi was continuously active in the Parliament. From triple talaq to every important issue in the Lok Sabha, she defended the government in her own style. The important fact is that it was she was the one who suggested changing the name of the road Race Course to the Prime Minister’s residence as Lok Kalyan Marg. This suggestion was also liked by the Prime Minister and not only that route but many other routes were also renamed after that.

Meenakshi Lekhi did a criminal case against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi

In 2019, Lekhi had also filed a criminal case of contempt of court by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi regarding the Rafale deal case. Then Meenakshi Lekhi came into the limelight. Apart from being a social worker, she was associated with the National Commission for Women and played an important role in the drafting committee of the Women’s Reservation Bill and Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal). Meenakshi Lekhi was also associated with Swadeshi Jagran Manch.

The political career of Meenakshi Lekhi

In 2010, Meenakshi Lekhi started her political career with BJP and was given the responsibility of Vice President of BJP Mahila Morcha. After this, in the year 2013, she was appointed the national spokesperson of the party and after just one year BJP gave her a ticket, then in 2014 Lekhi contested his first election from New Delhi Lok Sabha seat and won. In 2019, Lekhi again lifted the flag of her victory. Lekhi has adopted Delhi’s Pilanji village under the Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana and is engaged in its development.
