Over the years, women are often trolled for their body type. Maybe some women are brave enough to ignore the trollers but few get affected by public opinion.  In the desire of having a perfect-toned body, they punish themselves with painful procedures, surgeries, and transformation. The process of transforming yourself should be your own feel-good and not for public approval. Burst this myth of ‘perfect body’, Kyuki Kitna Bhi Kar lo bhen, unki Nazar mein Kuch Na Kuch kami reh hi jayegi.

Miss Universe Harnaaz Sandhu was recently trending, not for another achievement but for the trolling she received on social media. In her recent media interactions, it seemed that Sandhu gained weight post beauty contests. Since then, Miss Universe has received many comments about her weight and has even been body-shamed.

However, slamming all the trolls, Harnaaz Sandhu revealed that she suffers from Celiac disease. Due to this, she has refrained from consuming many things, such as wheat flour. Talking about her weight gain, Harnaaz explained that changes in geographical conditions bring a shift in people’s bodies. As she visited New York for the first time, the weather, food, and water influenced her body.

What is Celiac disease?

Celiac disease is a condition that causes sickness whenever a person consumes gluten.

What is gluten?

Gluten is a protein that comes from wheat, barley, and rye. Even if there is, only a tiny bit of gluten that is easily ignored by the naked eye, it can make you fall sick. One of the hardest things about having celiac disease  is making sure those tiny bits of gluten do not get into your food.

What happens to a person suffering from Celiac who eats gluten?

Some people may get bellyaches while others may suffer the following ailments:

· Diarrhea

· Fatigue

· Weight loss

· Bloating and gas

· Abdominal pain

· Nausea and vomiting

· Constipation

However, more than half the adults with celiac disease have signs and symptoms unrelated to the digestive system, including:

· Anemia, usually from iron deficiency

· Loss of bone density (osteoporosis) or softening of the bone (osteomalacia)

· Itchy, blistery skin rash (dermatitis herpetiformis)

· Mouth ulcers

· Headaches and fatigue

· Nervous system injury, including numbness and tingling in the feet and hands, possible problems with balance, and cognitive impairment.

· Joint pain

· Reduced functioning of the spleen (hyposplenism)

According to doctors at AIIMS, The northern belt is more inclined towards consuming wheat, which is a part of their staple diet. Therefore, it can be concluded that Celiac disease is not so rare since many are ignorant about it and even tend to make fun of it.
