Last week brought with it some happy, some shocking and some sad news.  While Aryan Khan’s case remained the highlight of the week, there were several women who made it to the headlines. From Ananya Pandey to the deceased volleyball player of Afghanistan, here’s a list of all the women in the news last week.

Ananya Pandey summoned by NCB for Questioning

Chunkey Pandey’s daughter, Ananya Pandey was summoned by NCB for questioning regarding the Mumbai Cruise Drugs Case. Aryan Khan, has also been arrested in this case. The link to Ananya Pandey was established by Aryan Khan’s WhatsApp chats, where Ananya had allegedly agreed to arrange drugs for Aryan Khan. According to the reports of NCB, Ananya had arranged drugs for Aryan Khan a total of three times. Ananya has been called in for three days of questioning.

Kerala High court gets 6 female judges

In a historic move, the Kerala High court gets 6 female judges which is a first in its entire history. Apart from the 4 female judges that are Justice Anu Sivaraman, Justice Mary Joseph, Justice V Shersy and Justice MR Anitha, who are already in office, two more female judges were sworn in on Wednesday, making it a total of 6 female judges in the Kerala High court. This is the first time that Kerala’s high court has had these many women in such a prestigious position.

Barbados Elects its First President

In a decisive and historic mode, Barbados has elected its first-ever president and it’s a woman!! Barbados, a Caribbean island, in a move towards riding its colonial past, has elected Sandra Mason to be its first President ever. Formerly under the rule of Queen Elizabeth, Barbados has decided to move out of the royal command and has held an election where Sandra Mason won with two-thirds majority. Mason has also served in an administrative position in the past. She will be sworn in on November 30,2021, which will also be the 55th Independence Anniversary of Barbados

Queen Elizabeth, declines ‘the oldie of the year award

Queen Elizabeth, who is 95, has politely declined the famous TOOTY, aka, the oldie of the year award. Queen politely declined as she believes that she does not meet the criteria because “you’re only as old as you feel”. And it’s obvious that the Queen is still young at heart.

Queen’s late husband, Prince Philip, was also awarded Consort of the Year in the year 2011.
