If you are a travel freak we are sure you must have traveled to maximum number of places not only in India, but also out of India, right? Have you ever visited Bhubaneswar? Well, the temple city Bhubaneswar is one of India’s most spiritual places. Its stunning temples are a precious example of the medieval architecture of Orissa, and its museums house is priceless artefacts and a preserved ancient traditions.

Today, we have come up with some convincing reasons why you should plan a trip to Bhubaneswar next time:

1. The beautiful architect will you leave you mesmerized: There are about 50 stone temples still standing in Bhubaneswar, but if there is only one you visit, let it be the towering, 54m-high Lingaraj Mandir. This temple is dedicated to the Lord of Three Worlds, Tribhuneswar, and the complex has plenty smaller shrines and temples as well. There’s a viewing platform from which non-Hindus can take in the fantastic architecture. You can just capture its beauty in your eyes.

2. For its heritage: The Parsurameswar Mandir is one of the best-preserved temples in Bhubaneswar. You might not believe it, but this Shiva temple is believed to have been built around 650 AD! It’s really old and if you want to capture the glory then must go there. You can spend hours there.

3. For its caves: Make a day-trip to the Khandagiri and Udayagiri Caves, located on two hills about six Kilometres from the city centre. You will definitely enjoy these caves. These caves feature rock-cut shelters that are elaborately carved. Do also visit the nearby Jain Temple, from where you will find gorgeous views over Bhubaneswar.

4. For it’s beautiful Museums: How can we forget to mention about Bhubaneswar’s museums. Marvel at the rare palm-leaf manuscripts, Bronze Age tools and the many Jain, Buddhist and Brahmanical sculptures at the Odisha State Museum, whose collection is said to be the best in the state.

5. For its arts: Last but not the least, you should not skip your trip because of Bhubaneswar’s arts. If you are a history fanatic, you cannot miss a visit to the Museum of Tribal Arts and Artefacts. Housed here are weapons, musical instruments, and ornaments.
