  1. Red Fort

This iconic monument is a symbol of the Mughal era in India. Built in 1638, the monument is an architectural marvel and houses many other smaller monuments inside the complex. The light and sound show here is a must-watch.

When to visit?

Avoid peak afternoons in the summer as it can get very hot during that time. Early mornings and evenings are a good time to visit this monument. 

2. Qutb Minar

This victory tower by Qutb-ud-din Aibak is an accumulation of many builders who have over the years made it the beautiful and the masterpiece it is. 

When to visit?

Early morning is a good time to visit this place if you want to explore the monuments. But, if you want to see the Minar beautifully lit and enjoy a nice meal with that view- make sure to have dinner or grab a drink in any restaurant in the Qutab Institutional Area. Most of these places offer a stunning view at night. 

3. Jama Masjid

Jama Masjid is one of the most beautiful mosques in the country and sees a huge crowd on a daily basis. You can also take a quick visit to Chawri Bazaar and the old city when visiting the stunning mosque.

Mornings are a great time to visit the mosque. 

4. Humayun’s  Tomb

This tomb was built in 1570 and honors Humayun. It is known for its resemblance to the Taj Mahal and it will take you half the day to visit the main tomb and the adjoining monuments near it.

Late afternoon is a good time to visit this place. 

5. Lodhi Garden

Despite being in the middle of the city, Lodhi Garden is a lush green escape that adds to the beauty of Delhi. It also houses historical monuments inside it. 

When to visit?

6. Old Fort or Purana Quila

The fort is open from 5:30 am to 7pm, so plan accordingly.

10. India Gate

Living in Delhi means a visit to the iconic India Gate is a must. 

When to visit?

Late night! There is nothing better than visiting India Gate and taking a trip around the famous CP area when it is empty and quiet. Do not forget to grab an ic-cream on your late-night drive. 

11. Akshardham

An architectural marvel, the temple is on the banks of Yamuna and helps you embark on a spiritual journey. It reflects the cultural ethos of India.

When to visit?

If you only want to party and drink- then nighttime is a good time. But, if you also want to enjoy the lake, fort, and the historical significance of the place- it is better to go in the afternoon.
