World leaders take climate seriously

The Climate conference has begun in Paris today. Attended by world leaders, this is perhaps the first such conference, which is being taken seriously by participating nations.

More than 150 World leaders and Heads of states have congregated in Paris for this historic event. Past attempts at bringing unity in the approach have failed. However, pundits are predicting a ‘landmark’ agreement to this effect as a result of this conference.

Global warming is very real, and already it’s effects are being felt across the world, an issue, which cannot be ignored, or blamed on cyclical history of the planet.

Countries, whose leaders are attending the conference, account for more than 90 percent of the World’s pollution. These leaders are all expected to declare caps on their respective greenhouse gas emissions, and associated timelines for attaining these targets.

These countries include: China, USA, India, Russia, Japan, Countries of the European Union, among others.
