CBI interrogates Tawde’s wife: Dabholkar murder case

On Tuesday, a team of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) interrogated Nidhi Tawde, wife of Dr Virendrasinh Tawde, who is the prime accused in the Narendra Dabholkar murder case.

According to sources, a search was conducted at the couple’s Panvel residence soon after Nidhi’s interrogation.

Last week the agency stated that Tawde was supposedly the chief planner in the murder case and that the interrogation of his wife and some associates was soon to take place.
“Agency tried to interrogate Nidhi but she was not in the country,” a CBI officer said.

“It was just a preliminary examination. If needed she will be questioned again,” the official added.

According to CBI Nidhi must have been a part of the crime committed by her husband.

As per the sources Nidhi is believed to be involved in the murder case.

However they lived apart as she shifted her focus to her medical practice while he got involved with his Sanstha related work and lived in an ashram, since he is the speaker for the Sanatan Sanstha (SS).

Tawde who was arrested earlier this month, has been accused of organizing the murder and for being in touch with SS member Sarang Akolkar, who was the prime accused in 2009 Goa blast case.

Sources said that Nidhi was questioned about Akolkar, who is wanted by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for the Goa blast in which two Sanatan members were killed.

According to agency Tawde in an email to Akolkar stated that to arm a private army of 15,000, their group required funds to purchase weapons and if required the right wing group should be prepared to steal and kill.

Officials also said that Tawde along with Akolkar attended arms training sessions in Goa, Sangli and Pune.
