Miller Leads Many States: America’s Most Searched Beer Brand Revealed
While identifying the one “most popular” beer in America can be extremely complicated and highly dependent on which metric is being used (sales volume, searching interest, consumer preference surveys), some recent studies add interesting information about the latest trends at the end of April 2025.
One of the more recent reports states that Miller Brewing Company was able to amass the highest search interest nationally with domination in thirty states. This would indicate a significant amount of consumer interest and involvement with the Miller brand, probably with products like Miller Lite and Miller High Life. According to the report, Miller’s mass appeal is due to its widespread availability, very consistent flavor profile, and strong marketing prominence.
Yet, in principle, it would seem that search interest does not correlate to sales volume. When it comes to reading the sales trends from late 2024 to early 2025, things look a bit different. Not surprisingly, Modelo Especial has soared to become the number-one beer in the United States, toppling Bud Light, which has continually been on that upper tier for many ages. Such a shift in consumer buying habits definitely reflects a trend, and the model’s crisp taste and smooth finish seem to favor a larger base.
Other beers that consistently tend to get recognized in the United States as popular products, frequently finding themselves in the top-selling and popularity lists include:
- Coors Light: Significantly popular in many states based on search data and always ranks at the top of sales.
- Bud Light: Though hurt by recent sales declines, it stands as a sizable third in overt popularity.
- Michelob Ultra: A light beer contender that holds its sales well.
- Corona Extra: An imported Mexican lager of extreme popularity in particular across Southern and West Coast states.
- Heineken: Also a popular import, showing good search interest in places like Florida and New York.
- Guinness: While Guinness is not the light-bodied lager usually associated with the American beer-drinking main street, paradoxically, Guinness shows some surprising search popularity in several states, showing that stouts are becoming more appreciated.

Another significant point is that craft beers are on the rise. While no one craft beer enjoys such prominence across the United States as the major domestic lagers and imports, the category as a whole does capture quite a bit of market share, with an increasing number of consumers seeking unique flavors and locally sourced options.
To sum it up, while presumably the most-searched beer brand in America according to this recent study might be Miller, Modelo Especial is apparently the top-selling beer. The American beer market remains as varied as ever, presenting a bouquet of classic domestic lagers, favored imports, and an emerging craft beer bandwagon to vie for the hearts and dollars of consumers. Preferences can also differ to a considerable extent by region, showcasing the different palates that exist across the United States.
