The much-awaited clash between cricket rivals India and Pakistan in the 2023 ICC Men’s ODI World Cup is facing the possibility of being rescheduled. The original match date, set for October 15 at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium, coincides with the commencement of the Hindu festival of Navratri. According to a report by IndianExpress, the match, originally planned for October 15, will likely be moved a day earlier to October 14, as per the news agency Asian News International. This decision aims to ensure a peaceful and safe environment for both players and spectators during the tournament.
Navratri holds significant cultural and religious importance in India, particularly in Gujarat, where celebrations are carried out with great enthusiasm and fervour. With a massive influx of people expected to participate in the festivities, the security concerns have prompted the need for a change in the match schedule.

The possible rescheduling has also led to a surge in travel and accommodation demand in Ahmedabad. Many cricket fans were already making arrangements to witness the high-stakes encounter between India and Pakistan. However, with the uncertainty around the match date, some may face the inconvenience of altering their travel plans, and accommodation prices have skyrocketed as a result.
The cricketing world is gearing up for the prestigious event, with preparations in full swing to accommodate fans and provide a seamless experience. The hospitality technology platform OYO has announced plans to add 500 new hotels in the host cities of the World Cup to meet the expected surge in bookings.
