Mercury transition to take place on May 9th: All you should know about it!

On May 9th people would be able to watch the mercury transition. However Mercury transitions are relatively rare events, which are observed from much of the world.

During the transit Mercury could be seen as a tiny black dot, which moves slowly from East to West direction across the sun. The total duration of the transit would be of 7.5 hours.

Mercury is seen against solar disk, a transit could seen anywhere from the earth. This happens, when Mercury planet crosses the ecliptic – the apparent path of the sun. Notably , last time it was seen in year 2006 and it is expected to be next seen in year 2019.
