India’s space agency ISRO has today created history by launching 104 satellites in one go from the Sriharikota spaceport in Andhra Pradesh. Now, India has become the first country to successfully carry so many satellites in single mission. Notably, the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle PSLV –C37 is the star of the launch, which has been described as an incredible step for India’s space programme.

Here are 10 points you need to know about the launch of 104 satellites by ISRO

1. All the satellites were launched in space within 18 minutes. They all were travelling at speed of over 27,000 km per hour, which is 40 times the speed of an average passenger airline.
2. Did you India’s workhorse rocket PSLV- C37 is on its 39th mission? Notably, among the 104 satellites many belongs to International customers.
3. It’s a historic record because India is now the first country to successfully carry so many satellites in one go.
4. PSLV-C37 is the heaviest version of the PSLV, weighing about 320 tonnes.
5. According to reports, 96 satellites belongs to US and smaller satellites belongs to United Arab Emirates, US, Netherlands, and Israel
6. PM Modi congratulated scientists for the successful launch by calling it historic. Apart from him, Big B also congratulated scientists.
7. In 2014, Russia had launched 37 satellites in one go.
8. Notably, this is ISRO’s second successful attempt after the launch of 23 satellites in a single rocket in June 2015.
9. The main passenger is the Earth – mapping Cartosat 2 series satellite, which weighs 714 kg.
10. Interestingly, two ISRO –made Nano satellite s belonging to international customers were also launched.
