Radhika Apte Nominated for Emmy 2019: From Economics to Emmy, know everything about this woman with wings

Radhika Apte is no less than a diva with fire. Recently, the lady was nominated for best performance in the 71st Primetime Emmy Awards 2019. She is nominated for her performance in Lust Stories that was showcased on Netflix. Along with that, Sacred Games, starring Saif Ali Khan against Radhika Apte and Lust Stories is also nominated for best mini-series, best drama and best none scripted entertainment category. All this shows the charisma of Apte in her career. Radhika Ape nominated for Emmy Awards 2019, and we decided to take look at her incredible journey.

How did she start her career?

Apte was born in Tamil Nadu, Vellore and was brought up in Pune. Her parents belong to a strong medical background. Radhika herself is an Economics and Mathematics graduate from Fergusson College, Pune. While growing up, she developed passion for dancing and got herself trained under Rohini Bhate for eight years in Kathak. During her interviews, she mentioned about hard times of her life where she was paid 8000 to 10000 in a month for theatre and other activities. In 2005, she played a small role in Hindi film Vaah! Life Ho Toh Aisi!n  In 2009,  she started doing theatre with Bengali social drama called Antaheen. After this, she got a role in films like ‘Shore in the City’ and ‘Rakta Charitra’.

In a midway, she decided to go to London to study contemporary dancing from London’s Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. In London, she met her husband Benedict who later moved to Pune with her .

5 Major Break Throughs in Radhika Apte’s Life


The Major Breakthrough in Radhika Apte was the big Bollywood film, Badlapur. She played the role of Koko in the film which was absolutely a spectacular performance. For her, “if her role in that particular film, made you feel uncomfortable, then that is exactly the point of the story”.

2. Padman

From Badlapur to Padman, her versatility was seen evidently. In Padman she took the role of Gayatri, wife of the Padman himself which was played by Akshay Kumar. From a bold role in Badlapur to a subtle and conservative housewife, Apte completely nailed it.

3. Andhadundh

Andhadundh is one of the finest Bollywood movies casting Ayushman Khurrana, Tabu, and Radhika Apte. Although Radhika was seen only in the first half of the movie, she did her best in that particular part.

4. Lust Stories

The women, in 2018, entered the arena of Short Films. On 15th June 2018, The Lust Storieswas released on Netflix and this was perhaps the best of Apte. The bold, classy, and graceful presentation of Radhika got her to the nominations of 2019 Emmy Awards.

5. The Sacred Games

This particular Indian Series casting Saif Ali Khan, Radhika Apte, Pankaj Tripathi,
Nawazuddin Siddique has become the favourite of the millennium generation. Here, she played the role of an Indian detective. A woman detective is usually not acceptable in the Indian Society and this woman made it look so graceful that we weren’t able to get over it.
