Sareh Nouri Collection

New York based Sareh Nouri, originally from Iran, started designing wedding gowns when she could not find suitable attire for her own wedding. With a degree in graphic design from George Masan University, Sareh understood how to work in pattern and layouts based on her extremely successful work-in utilizing, traditional Persian art.

Her celebrity clients include former American idol Diana De Garmo and Miss America Caressa Camerson.

Sareh Nouri in conversation with C P Rajendran narrates her success story and how she has become a leading wedding gown designer of the world:

1. What leads you pursue a career in bridal fashion?

I was always inspired by art. I loved to paint at an early age and took lessons from a prominent painter in Iran. I never got tired or bored from anything that was artistic and I always went back to it. During my college years I geared towards graphic design since it was digital and artistic.

2. What do you love about brides?

I love working with brides that are excited about planning their wedding and are open to trying on a dress that will make their day special.

3. What kind of opinion do you give to brides who are coming to you?

A wedding gown is an emotional purchase. I always tell brides to do their research but stay open-minded.. Pick the styles you like (sleeves or no sleeves, full or slim-fitting, trumpet), but it could change once you try them on! Be honest with your consultant regarding budget, and in the end you will benefit by finding “the one”.

4. How would you define the style of wedding dress?

Classic, elegant, one-of-a-kind, romantic, timeless.

5. What makes your collection unique?

The laces I use are what make my collection unique. I recently collaborated with the French lace house, Sophie Hallette, and used their exquisite laces for my Fall 2015 collection. The laces are handmade which makes the gowns look magnificent.

6. Tell me a style secret that can make a wedding look magical?

Put a sash on a dress. It works every time!

7. Where do you find your inspiration and does it change from collection to collection?

I’m inspired by so many beautiful things – Persian art from my Middle Eastern heritage, early bridal fashion, nature, and the soft, luxurious fabrics used in my collections.

8. Who is your all time celebrity bride?

Angelina Jolie is my favorite celebrity; I would love to see her wear one of my gowns for her wedding!

9. What wedding trends will you see on 2015?

The current trends for my collection include lace, illusion necklines, dresses with sleeves and a touch of sparkle!

10. Do you want to continue with Bridal fashion or any plan to switch over to any other fashion?

Currently, I’m focusing on expanding my collection in the US – and then internationally. Eveningwear and accessories collections are all in the works!
