“Her eyes express for her,

Her smile can make you fall,

Her words just flow fluently like water,

You just can’t miss her when around.”

That is how Shehnaz Treasurywala’s personality strikes you from far. Laughter box, chatter box, enthusiastic, avid traveler, serious on the job, true in-side out… Hush! There is so much to talk about her and even she had so much to talk about when One World News caught her in an exclusive conversation over a cup of coffee and snacks.

How are you in real life?

I am a strong person who speaks her mind. So whatever you see is what you get. I don’t believe in being fake nor I am, and that can be noticed by looking into my eyes and gestures.
I am what I am and I have no apologies for being so. I don’t really care about what people think about me and that’s the best thing about me.

I am free and I value my freedom, don’t succumb to social pressure, I believe in taking my own path which gets a little difficult for my parents, but I have worked hard to get this freedom. I am very emotional and it’s easy to make me cry which is what I would like to change about myself.

Are you selective about the work you do?

I just don’t want to do anything and everything! I want to enjoy what I do. I have done movies which have had good scripts and mostly, the reason behind being selective has also been the fact that I travel a lot.

Half of the year I am in India and the rest half I spend overseas. When I travelled to the US in 2010, I bagged a role in an American Soap Opera called- One Life To Live, then worked in Brown Nation, so I have been getting a lot of work there.

I wasn’t getting good scripts here. So, yes I am selective. Moreover, I never wanted to be a Bollywood-babe, I just wanted to be in a creative field as I love to write, host shows and would want to direct as well and also I love photography.

How did you start your career?

Well, I was in 11th class when I did an ad-film which got me more ad-films and through them I got a little fame in the industry and was approached for a show on MTV. So before I knew it, I was a VJ.

Then I was shifted to Singapore for the show and I continued my studies there itself. I didn’t even know about my shows popularity until I came back to India. So, that’s how I started my career. I have always been and grown up around creative things so probably that has made me naturally good at debating, theatre, hosting etc. One thing led to another and funnily I never had time to think about what I really want to do. It just happened.

How did you bag your first movie?

When I came back from the US, I lost all my baggage and wasn’t carrying money plus I didn’t even have a job. All of this depressed me so much that I ended up going to a bar in my mom’s outfit. While I was whining about not having a job, somebody tapped on my shoulder and the moment I turned around it was Ken Ghosh. So, he explained me about his movie and I thought why not to give it a chance. So, that’s how I got Ishq Vishq.

We know that in your professional life you are a perfectionist, but are you the same in your personal life?

For the past four years, my life has become crazy because I keep travelling from India to US and vice versa, which has left me without a place to be called home! My life has got itself packed in a suitcase because I shift wherever I get work. So, I really cannot say that I am a perfectionist in my personal life.

Any Projects you are looking for?

I am not looking for any projects in Bollywood, I am just focusing on scripts and if I would get good projects I would work towards it. Otherwise, I already have a lot of things going on and soon on Comedy Central ill have a show which has been written and directed by me, so I just hope it goes well.

Tell us something about the movie, Main Aur Mr.Riight?

Every woman has a fantasy that some prince would come one day and sweeps her off her feet. No matter how old we get, we hope for fairytales to come true in our life and that’s what my upcoming movie Main Aur Mr. Riight talks about. The movie has been shot within 60 days and I play a role of a woman who is choosy, futuristic and likes nothing but perfect. And the story revolves around if she would find the one for her.

The message that the movie carries is really cute and true that you get to be with someone who makes you feel special not with someone who is just picture perfect with you. But I believe that you should not search for the right partner because everything has its own time and place. So, when it has to happen, it would.

What sort of guy are you looking for?

I have met guys who perfectly match to my check-list of perfect guys, but then I didn’t feel anything for them. So, I need a person who is calm, grounded, understanding and someone with whom I can connect so well that I won’t mind sharing my experiences and going places. I want to have fun whether it’s bad moments or good.
