Winter dehydration: Everybody knows the importance of staying hydrated during the summer season. However, we all tend to decrease the intake of water during the winter season. We don’t feel thirsty and that’s why we cut off the water intake. But do you know staying hydrated during the winter season is way more important than the summer season? Here are five major reasons to stay hydrated during the winter season, take a look:

1. Your skin needs it!

Stepping out in the cold weather and then into a warm room can take a toll on your skin. It can make your skin dry and chapped. Sufficient water intake will keep your skin cells hydrated. Dull skin becomes a problem during the winter season. For glowing skin, Keep drinking water, despite the fact that you don’t feel thirsty.

2. Keep winter dehydration at bay

During the winter season we don’t feel thirsty so we don’t drink water. But it can lead to winter dehydration. As the temperature continues to fall, we wrap ourselves in more layers and turn on heaters. If we will not drink enough water, then artificial heating can lead to winter dehydration. Remember, just because you are not thirsty doesn’t mean your body is hydrated.

Mid-day fatigue during the winter season could be a result of dehydration. Proper intake of water throughout the day will keep you active all day long. Keep a glass of water to hand and sip it regularly to stay alert and energetic.

A lot of infections can be caused during the winter season. Dehydration can weaken your immune system and can make you fall sick. A well-hydrated body will keep infections at bay. It will fight against the virus which means there are fewer chances of you falling sick.

5. Winter Weight gain will not be your cup of tea

It is another common problem and a lot of people go through it. When days are dark body needs a lot of comforting, often this manifests itself in comfort food- that can lead to winter weight gain. Before doing it, why not drink a glass of water. Notably, our brain often mistakes thirst for hunger and after drinking water, the hunger trigger gets satisfied. This way you can easily resist the temptation.

How many liters one should drink during the winter season?

Well, it can vary from person to person. There are a few factors which need to be taken under consideration such as activity level, weight, gender, and age. Here are a few common guidelines:

1. Drink 8-10 glasses of water every day
2. If you exercise, drink water between 10-14 glasses every day
