Here are few things you need to know about Corneila Sorabji

Today, Google Doodle is celebrating 151th Birthday of Corneila Sorabji, India’s first woman advocate. She was the first woman to graduate in law from India as early as 1892 and the first Indian national to attend a British.

Here are few facts that you need to know about Corneila Sorabji, India’s first woman advocate:

Corneila was born in Nashik in the erstwhile Bombay Presidency of colonial India on this day in 1886
Her parents were Reverend Sorabji Karsedji and Francina ford were advocates of women’s education and established several girls’ schools in Pune.
Her parents encouraged a lot for studies that’s why she went on to become first woman to be graduated from Bombay University.
She has published two autobiographies India Calling : The Memories of Cornelia Sorabji, and India recalled, biography of her parents , and numerous articles on Purdahnashins.
She had appeared for LLB examination in Bombay University to obtain a law degree, becoming the first woman graduate from the institution
In year 1923 colonial courts opened their doors to women advocates and the very next year Cornelia began practicing in Kolkata.
She also flight against male domination and biasness in the court. Six year later she retired and moved to London.
She passed away on July 6, 1954
