Kisan Garjana Rally: Kisan Back on Road, Here what they are demanding?

Kisan Garjana Rally:- 50,000 farmers gathered again against the three agitation law at the Ram Leela maidan of Delhi

Kisan Garjana Rally:- Around 50,000 farmers arrived in the national capital on Monday, hinting at the continuation of months-long farm agitation against the three contentious agricultural legislation.

Farmers have gathered after the Bhartiya Kisan Sangh (BKS), a farmers’ organisation linked with the RSS, issued a call for a “Kisan Garjana” rally at the Ramlila Maidan in central Delhi. To better the situation of farmers, they have banded together under a single banner to demand relief measures.

The farmers’ organisation is using the march as a show of force to pressure the government to cooperate with its requests, which include the cancellation of farm debt, fair prices for their produce, and compensation for crop damage.

The government will also be reminded of its assurances regarding the farmers’ unfulfilled demands when negotiating with the Samyukt Kisan Morcha. This organisation led the protests against the three-farm legislation. The SKM ended the 11-month rally after the Center provided formal guarantees.

Earlier, Nana Aakhre, a BKS executive committee member, claimed that the poor returns on farmers’ agricultural output pushed them to commit suicide.

BKS RAISES DEMANDS

  • Reasonable costs for all farm products
  • Farm products are free of GST.
  • Farm products are free of GST.
  •  An increase in the financial assistance offered under the Kisan Samman Nidhi.
  • Farmers should be included while determining export and import policies.
  • The Vehicle Scrappage Policy’s 15-year limit should only apply to farmer’s tractors.

Congress national secretary KC Venugopal offered the Modi administration some advice as the nation’s capital prepared for yet another large farmers’ protest: Either learn from the past or be destined to repeat it.

STIR AGAINST 3 AGRICULTURAL LAWS

After the government passed three agricultural reforms in September 2020 that relaxed regulations governing the sale, valuation, and storage of farm products, the SKM-led farm movement got underway. The minimum support price for essential staples like rice and wheat could be lost, leaving farmers susceptible to large businesses.

In November 2020, thousands of farmers set up camp at Delhi’s Singhu, Tikri, and Ghazipur borders. Up to 700 people died due to the year-long conflict between the government and the farmers, occasionally accompanied by skirmishes with security personnel.

On November 19, 2021, Prime Minister Modi declared that his administration would repeal the laws after months of firmly stating that the measures would benefit farmers. On November 30, the Parliament formally approved a bill that would undo the amendments.

ISSUED TRAFFIC ADVISORY

Many people in Delhi-NCR still remember the scene of hundreds of halted tractors, miles-long canvas tents, and farmers suffering the unbearable heat pouring with rain and bitter cold. Uncomfortable memories of hours-long traffic jams and protracted delays at the city’s arterial access points are also present.

The Delhi Police issued a traffic advice warning commuters of route changes and restrictions before the expected Kisan Garjana march.

It listed the following locations as the divert points: Bhavbhuti Marg, Mirdard Chowk, Ajmeri Gate, Chaman Lal Marg, Delhi Gate, JLN Marg, roundabout Kamala Market to Hamdard Chowk, and Paharganj Chowk.

On the Ranjeet Singh flyover between Barakhamba Road and Guru Nanak Chowk, Minto Road and the roundabout at Kamla Market, Vivekanand Marg, and JLN Marg, the alert warns that traffic limits, regulations, or detours may be implemented (Delhi gate to Guru Nanak Chowk).

Additional locations, including the roundabouts connecting Kamla Market to Guru Nanak Chowk, Chaman Lal Marg, Ajmeri Gate toward Asaf Ali Road, Paharganj Chowk, and Jandewalan, Desh Bandhu Gupta Road to Ajmeri Gate, may be subject to the similar restrictions on Monday starting at 9 a.m.

Commuters should avoid the highways mentioned above and sections. The advice advises commuters to depart early to allow for probable delays on the route when going to New Delhi Railway Station, Old Delhi Railway Station, Nizamuddin Railway Station, and ISBT.
