Khush khabri: Indian Railways to set up child-friendly facilities at stations for runaway children

 Good news

Children living in poverty loitering on platforms or in trains are provided child-friendly spaces by Indian Railways in railway stations. A child-friendly space has been set up at Pune station in association with HCFC.

The children would be provided with counselling after recovering and before being brought to their parents. However, all essential railway stations would have such child-friendly spaces without HCFC.

The child-friendly spaces are well-equipped with all facilities for entertainment and play for the children while giving them a homely feel when they are brought in for counselling.

Khush khabri: Inclusive Move! UP government to conduct transgender census

The  Uttar Pradesh government decided to conduct its first-ever census of transgender people in the state. The state’s social welfare department has written to all the District Magistrates to undertake this exercise and asked respective Collectors to recognize areas where transgender people reside. Once their areas are earmarked, the individual district officials have been ordered to register them and make their identity cards.

Uttar Pradesh’s government created the Transgender Welfare Board. Aseem Arun, Minister of State for Social Welfare (Independent Charge), made the decision at the board meeting.

The transgender people would have to be registered if they were to avail schemes under state and central government sponsorships.

Have a happy weekend!
