Doctors are now finding that people with happy dispositions are more likely to have healthier hearts than unhappy stressed people.

They conducted studies on more than one thousand cardiac patients, and found them to have higher levels of physical activity, better sleep, and other healthy habits than those who were unhappy.

According to Nancy L Sin from the department of bio behavioural health at Penn State Univ., USA, “We found that positive emotions are associated with a range of long term health habits, which are important for reducing the risk of future heart problems…”

This is where meditation, yoga and other ‘new age’ practices step in. Using any of these methods helps alleviate stress, and improves one’s coping mechanism. This results in a happier disposition, with the associated health benefits.
