Round bodied women more likely to overeat

Scientists at Drexel University, USA have been studying eating disorders. As a part of their study, they studied various body shaped individuals, and found that women with round, or apple shaped bodies were most likely to fall prey to binge eating.

This is because those with apple bodies have more adipose tissue in their abdomen, which compels the person to eat more to get a sense of satiety.

According to Laura Berner, who is the lead author of this study “This suggests that targeting individuals who store more of their fat in the midsection and adapting psychological interventions to focus specifically on body fat distribution could be beneficial for preventing eating disorders.”
