OLX Everland: Weekend Full Of Excitement And Fun

We all know how hectic a school life can be- exams, homework, assignments etc. Parents are so busy with their lives that even they don’t get a chance to spend quality time with their children. Keeping in mind this scenario, OLX created a land, a space, a weekend filled with fun and excitement for both the children and the parents and called it OLX Everland.

OLX Everland gave the chance of hands-on learning experiences where children did not only playe games but also learn. The event held various programmes like: Etiquette please (Where children were taught basic etiquettes), Poise and Posture workshop (Where the children were taught how to make an impression through body language), Storytelling with Geeta Ramanujan who narrated stories through performance and made the children participate by making them guess the characters in the story- and so on.

While taking the trip of this land, we also found a workshop that looked more like an unconventional school. So, we visited the small fun school, got hands-on-learning experience and spoke to Aparna Pasi, Manager of the concept school called Stellar Children’s Museum who told us that “Stellar Children’s Museum is a US based concept museum which is first of its kind. When OLX got in touch with us, they told us that this event is completely dedicated to children. So keeping that in mind we have displayed basic layout of what we have at our centre. We have seven galleries with different themes. We believe in giving a fun filled learning experience so there is a lot of learning through interesting games. Also, by displaying a small part of us here we are introducing the concept to parents and to the children.”

Everland was divided into three parts: Fun Land which was meant for special programs like storytelling, Ebru Art- the art of painting on water, Dancing with Disney and so on, Mystery Land which was made for workshops like self-defence, painting on water, etiquette and poise etc. and Yum Yum Land where kids leant few cooking techniques along with crafts like puppet making and so on. While on round of Yum Yum Land, we met AparnaTodi who is the Owner of Young Chef Academy, “We are a cooking school for kids from US and are a master franchise in Delhi. We are first ever kind of cooking school in where children come and learn to cook. When we say cooking, we do not only demonstrate but have working stations for the kids and as well as adults who cook when we give instructions and demonstrate the same. We have made sure that no harmful objects are used while cooking, for example: we use nylon knife, induction stove etc. We also organise birthdays, summer winter workshops and once a week workshops as well. Cooking is a fun process.”

While we were at mystery land looking at children screaming out bollywood dialogues and acting too, we met Rohan Dutta from Sanjeev Dutta from the Personality School who told us that they workthrough theatrical action method to polish children for the biggest theatre, the world out there. “I found this event very exclusive, the reason being the enthusiasm in children. Everything about the place is so vibrant that it’s helping the children to participate. The perspective of parent towards theatre is usually very clichéd about how it’s just related to the entertainment industry. However what we are doing here is very different; we are bringing out the inner personality and developing it. After the session, a lot of parents have come over showing interest in our programmes and have realised that such programmes would give extra exposure to their children.”

Last but not the least, we spoke to the artist of one of the main attraction activity in the entire schedule of the event, Hayrettin Kozanoglu- Ebru artist. “Ebru is one of the most ancient art form of Turkey. It seems really easy but it is the most difficult art since it’s done on water. The water is mixed which a special sort of gum which makes it thick, the mixture has to be precise as well as the temperature plays an important role in it. This is my first visit to India and I am very excited to be her.”

The two daylong event not only entertained the children but also gave ideas to the parents on how can they turn academics much more interesting and how they can involve their children in activities which would make them fitter and better.
