Indian Car of the Year: Hyundai Elitei20
The compact car segment is the most driven car segment of the country. Compact cars are what make the dream of owning a car for a middle class man possible. Compact cars are expected to churn out a decent performance yet be packed with features to keep the consumer happy.
This year’s Indian Car of the Year is the Hyundai i20 Elite. This premium segment hatchback starting at ₹ 5.23 lakhs, packs enough power to keep the consumer comfortable in the hectic city ride. It is the successor to the Hyundai i20, which was launched in the Indian markets in 2008 and was also one of the first cars to sport the Hyundai fluidic design.

The Elite i20 is available in majorly two variants, the 1200cc petrol variant and the 1400cc diesel. The exterior is like eye candy for the onlookers and the interior is nice and clean, beige-black and a redesigned dashboard. The Elite i20 offers an array of features such as rearview camera and sensors, integrated audio and Bluetooth controls. Overall, a bang for the buck, the elite i20 offers a lot more than one can expect.
Amit Patel, a local resident of Pune and a proud owner of the Hyundai Elitei20, claims “The car gives the feeling of a sedan from the inside. Rich in features and high on performance, the diesel engine doesn’t disappoint. Even on the highway, the car manages to do fine and doesn’t feel underpowered.”
