Every Sunday morning, Delhi vrooms to the sound of high power bikes. No..not the 100-200-300 cc variety. We are talking about REAL bikes here.
A group of men from all age groups, in professions as diverse as music, law, shipping, diplomacy, banking, journalism, industry and finance, and what have you have each acquired power bikes Like Kawasaki Ninja 1000, Triumph Daytona 675, Kawasaki Ninja 650, etc, and treat them like their wives, or in some cases better, formed the Delhi Riders Club three years ago.
These intrepid adventurers live their lives to the fullest. Working hard six days a week, they take off early in the morning on most Sundays, and go far and near, to places like Agra, cruising at mind boggling speeds on the expressway, or take off to Chandigarh or even Shimla, always making it a point to come back home by night.
Though they drive crazy machines, ‘safety first’ is their motto, and they not only profess, but also practice safe driving, and have also participated in Government Road Safety programs.
One of the most enthusiastic members of this eclectic group is Ramen Paul. A music prodigy, he lives a quiet life in Delhi teaching school kids during the week days. Reserving Saturday for his family, he truly comes into his own when riding his Kawasaki Ninja 1000. For him, this Sunday morning ride is sacrosanct, and he cannot decide which he loves more his music, his wife or his bike… However, one imagines that he is just being facetious, as his devotion to his wife and family, and his passion for his music are as well known as his passion for biking.
