A ‘Lovely’ Evening with Happy New Year Cast

 

When the King of Bollywood makes an appearance, you can be sure that things are going to be legendary!

 

Shahrukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Farah Khan, Boman Irani, Abhishek Bachchan, Vivaan Shah and Sonu Sood were all present for a media interaction ahead of the launch of the eagerly awaited film Happy New Year.

The cast carried the fun and chic attitude from their recent appearance on the hit TV show Comedy Nights with Kapil into the event, leaving all present mesmerized and highly entertained.The evening was almost like a scripted show in itself as it was packed with funny, exhilarating moments that gave the media a fresh look at how (the otherwise drab) press interactions can be like.

 

Abhilash from Fever 104Fm made sure that the media asked only HAPPY questions, thereby ensuring the festive spirit extended through the night. If anyone from the press was caught asking the serious or dampening questions, then they were made to perform on the India-waale song. Vivaan Shah, son of the charismatic Naseeruddin Shah, showcased his talent by dancing on a famous track from the movie- ‘Lovely’. This sparked a riot of laughter from the crowd, but also appreciated his candour.

 

One World News had the opportunity to converse with the cast, and bring to you an exclusive insight on the thoughts and views of the cast.

 

 

On asking Deepika Padukone, the female lead in the movie, about how she prepared herself for the role of Mohini Joshi(her character in the movie), she replied, “First of all, I was very fortunate to have Farah as the director and Mayur Puri, who has written a lot of dialogues that were given to me. Plus, I feel fortunate about the fact that I have been living in Mumbai since the last 6 – 7 years now, as that has given me opportunity to interact with a lot of Maharashtrian women. Also, my mother tongue is Konkoni which is very similar to Marathi so in terms of language we have used something I am familiar with. Talking about the accent, the style has been given to the character through her accent and it comes through interaction with Marathi people around and adding a little of myself to it.”

 

On being asked if she thinks that this Mohini (her character) can replace the epic Mohini (Madhuri Dixit in Tejaab), Deepika says, “Absolutely not! Madhuri as Mohini is iconic and my character of Mohini Joshi is very different in her own way. One cannot compare both Mohinis. I have grown up watching Madhuri films, all her characters are iconic characters and they had a huge influence in my life. So, I think it would be unfair to compare the two.”

Conversing with us, Abhishek Bachchan talked about his role in the movie, “The experience of acting as a criminal has been fruitful, enriching and full of fun. Playing the character of Nandu Bhide has been a difficult task and I really hope that when the audience watches the movie, I can convince them that I am not only meant for the role of a cop but can play all other sorts of roles as well.” Farah Khan, complimenting Deepika, said that she has done an absolutely great job and has made her proud. She further expressed that when she casted her in Om Shanti Om, she was a rough diamond but she has grown like the Kohinoor Diamond.

 

Farah had been claiming on social media that she had to do a lot of cardio sessions chasing after each one of the stars to get them ready for the shots; we thought we will cross-check on how true the claim is by questioning the King of Bollywood himself.

 

Responding to our query, Shahrukh Khan said, “We are a bunch of good looking people and it is hard to get all of us together on the same day. (Interrupting in between, Farah Khan says, “Yes! They play hard to get and they play FIFA in between the shots too.) (Continuing) We all would run after each other and when all friends are together and shooting then it can be a little difficult to handle. However, Farah has been a mother all this while, so the whole experience was very homely.”

On asking Shahrukh about his views on the latest trend in Bollywood leads of donning a 6/8 pack body, he said “It is good to be fit and sometimes your role demands you to make a fit body. The time has come when physicality of the character does make a lot of sense and adds a personal feel to the character. However, I do not think that making abs can make a movie hit. Actually, I and Farah have never focussed on physicality of a character but only on the emotional part of it; but this fit body and abs fever was just a game we have extended since Om Shanti Om.”

 

It was quite evident that the magic, laughter and fun that we have been witnessing on our Television sets is not just an act grab TRP’s but it is indeed the connection and chemistry between them that never fails to enchant the audience.

 

The cast is like family to each other and have also promised each other that every possible weekend they would dine together (to which Farah said that she would never visit Sonu Sood because she doesn’t want to live only on salads) and would celebrate their NEW YEAR on 24th of October every year.

 

So, get set to have the most fun-filled Diwali this year as these India-waale’s are coming in a theatre near you to remind you that life is about fun, laughter and enjoyment as well.
