5th Annual Anime Convention 2014

 

The biggest Japanese pop-culture celebration is here! Scheduled from 17th-19th October 2014 at NSIC Exhibition Complex, New Delhi, one can have the opportunity to know more about the Japanese culture right from the celebrated game designers, illustrators, animation artists, graphic designers etc. coming from Japan, Hong Kong, US, France and India.

The convention is an unique opportunity to interact with many artists and global animation studios like Ultra Super Pictures and Sanzigen, who have been involved in the production of anime series like Arpeggio of Blue Steel, Black Rock Shooter, Kill La Kill, Wake Up, Girls, Wooser’s Hand-to-Mouth life etc.

 

Speaking on the occasion, Nitesh Rohit, Founder of Anime Convention, said “We wanted to create a market place for Japanese pop culture in India and also to create collaboration between various designers and artists of both the countries- Japan and India. Our motive is also to encourage the young generation to take up animation as a career and to learn about it.”

“I personally love Japanese pop culture and that is the reason why I have thought of bringing it here. And what could be better than learning and knowing about the skills of animation right from the artist? So, we have organized workshops too for the next two days where people can have a hands-on-learning experience. “

 

Adding to it, Yoshifumi Abe, Founder and CEO of JI Style, said “The purpose of this convention is to bridge the gap between Japan and India. Eight years ago, I was assigned to do research on how Japanese companies are doing in India. We found that there were only 200 companies which weren’t doing well but now that number has increased to a thousand companies.

I feel even now there is a scope of development as we haven’t reached where we wanted to. That is the reason I have brought these famous animation artists, screen play writers etc. to spread our culture in India.”

 

In Anime Con, one would have the opportunity to know about the history of Japanese pop culture and its development till now. Also, one can buy Japanese products and would get to know ‘what is new’ in Japan in terms of technology, animated characters etc.

Talking about the scope of taking Indian animation artists to Japan, Yoshifumi said “For now, we are at an amateur stage and are trying to educate the young generation about the art of animation. However, if we would have a chance, we would love to promote the Indian artists who have taken complete knowledge about this field and are ready to compete with Japanese artists.”

Well, for hardcore gamers, PS4 gaming booth will allow you to experience the next-gen gaming at its finest. There will be a PS3 Fighting Game Tournament for those who like to battle it out and win some amazing prizes. The retro gaming section will take you down memory lane and allow you to rediscover #oldschoolcool. Gaming arena will be stacked up with the worlds most popular RPGs and card games like Pokemon cards, Yu-gi-ho cards and Dungeons& Dragons.

 

It doesn’t get over there! One would also get a chance to dress-up as their favorite animated character and walk the ramp. Also, at a Cosplay booth one would have the opportunity to get clicked with a team of professional Cosplayers. The 5th edition of Annual Cosplay Competition will see India’s finest cosplayers combating for glory and fun.

For entertaining the visitors, the convention also has anime and manga quizzes, Treasure Hunt: ‘Detective Conan’- where the participants would have to solve the riddles to find clues and get to the treasure chest. Winners will be awarded with amazing prizes.
