Trump calls DC shooting an act of terror, criticizes Hellhole Afghanistan suspect, demands stricter immigration and National Guard deployment.

Horrific DC Shooting: Hellhole Afghanistan Suspect Arrested as Trump Blasts DC Shooting as an Act of Terror, Demands Stricter Immigration Measures

US President Donald Trump strongly denounced the recent shooting of two National Guard members near the White House in Washington, DC, calling it a “horrific assault on our Great National Guard Warriors”. The attack occurred just a day before Thanksgiving, prompting Trump to emphasise that no country should tolerate such acts of violence, particularly against those serving on the frontlines to protect the nation.

Act of Evil, Hatred, and Terror

Speaking from the White House briefing room, Trump described the shooting as an “act of evil”, an “act of hatred”, and later escalated it to an “act of terror”. He stressed that the attack was not only a crime against the two guardsmen but also a crime against the entire nation and humanity as a whole.

Suspect From Hellhole Afghanistan

Trump also criticized the suspect’s background, noting that the Department of Homeland Security believed the man came to the United States from Afghanistan. He referred to the country as a “hellhole” and highlighted that the suspect had arrived in September 2021 during the mass airlift following the fall of the Afghan government. Trump placed partial blame on the Biden administration, asserting that vetting for Afghan arrivals had been inadequate and that the suspect “was flown in by the Biden administration”.

Call for Stricter Immigration Measures

Following the shooting, Trump renewed his call for more stringent immigration enforcement. He urged that all individuals living illegally in the United States be removed and demanded a full reinvestigation of Afghan refugees admitted under Biden’s Operation Allies Welcome. Trump stressed that each case should be reviewed “from start to finish” to ensure national safety.

Increased National Guard Deployment

In response to the attack, Trump announced that an additional 500 National Guard troops would be deployed across Washington, DC, to enhance existing security measures. Thousands of Guard members are already stationed in the capital as part of ongoing federal deployments, and this reinforcement aims to protect the city against any further threats.

Details About the Suspect

Law enforcement officials have identified the suspect as Rahmanullah Lakanwal, a 29-year-old Afghan national who immigrated to the United States in 2021 under Biden’s Operation Allies Welcome. FBI sources say the early identification was made via fingerprint records, although further verification is ongoing. Lakanwal reportedly applied for asylum in 2024, which was granted earlier this year.

Investigation Ongoing

Authorities have recovered a handgun believed to be used in the shooting, which is now being examined along with other evidence collected at the scene. Investigators continue to interview witnesses and review surveillance footage from the area. The motive for the attack remains unclear, and law enforcement officials confirm that the investigation is active and ongoing.

National Security and Public Safety

The incident has reignited debates over immigration policies and national security protocols. Trump emphasized that protecting Americans, especially service members guarding the nation, must be the highest priority. He warned that such violent acts cannot be tolerated and stressed the need for enhanced scrutiny of immigration processes to prevent future attacks.
