Radhika Madan Remembers When She Was Told She Didn’t Fit Industry Beauty Standards and Had a ‘Tedha’ Jaw
Recently in an interview, Bollywood actress Radhika Madan opened up about her early struggles in the film industry and the hurdles she had to overcome. The talented actress shared her experiences of being told that she was not pretty enough and even having a ‘crooked’ jaw.
Radhika recalled that in the early stages of her career, people questioned her appearance, telling her that she didn’t fit the conventional beauty standards of the industry. She was even told that her jaw was slightly ‘tedha’ or crooked. However, Radhika had a strong belief in herself. She revealed, “I was told that I’m not pretty enough and that my jaw is slightly tedha (crooked). I was quite surprised because I was Kareena Kapoor in my head. Maybe they couldn’t see it, but ek achchi johori ko heera dikh hi jaata hai.” She stood firm in her self-confidence, never letting these remarks discourage her.

In the interview, Radhika also discussed how she handles false and baseless stories that are often circulated about her in the media. She admitted that she reads everything written about herself and when she encounters things she doesn’t like, she simply laughs them off. In the past, negative comments used to affect her, and she felt the need to prove herself and change incorrect perceptions. However, Radhika has developed a thicker skin over time, enabling her to navigate the industry with grace and confidence.
Speaking about online safety and the influence of social media, Radhika emphasised the importance of not letting the number of followers define one’s worth. She pointed out that social media is like wearing a mask, and it should not control our lives. She expressed her concern about people judging others based on their follower count and encouraged everyone to remember that they are more than just a number. Radhika’s insights on online safety are particularly relevant in today’s digital age.

On the professional front, Radhika Madan is making waves with her upcoming projects. She was recently seen in the film ‘Sajini Shinde Ka Viral Video,’ which deals with cyber security breaches. In addition to her acting career, she was named as part of the jury panel at the International Emmy Awards 2023. Her future projects include the Hindi remake of ‘Soorarai Pottru,’ where she will be seen alongside Akshay Kumar. She also has ‘Sanaa’ in the pipeline, featuring Pooja Bhatt, Sohum Shah, and Shikha Talsania.
