Param Sundari: A Warm, Cross-Cultural Rom-Com Revival

Param Sundari: When Delhi’s Charm Meets Kerala’s Soul in a Rom-Com

Param Sundari: Chemistry, Culture, and Catchy Tunes Bring Love Alive

Param Sundari brings the season of love back to Bollywood, with Janhvi Kapoor and Sidharth Malhotra stepping into a rom-com directed by Tushar Jalota. After making waves with his OTT hit Dasvi set in the fictional Harit Pradesh, Jalota now transports audiences to the lush landscapes of God’s Own Country, Kerala. But how well does Param Sundari capture the magic of love on screen?

Premise and Plot

The movie centers on Param (Sidharth Malhotra) a tech-savvy Delhiite who uses an app to try his hand at matchmaking before his father pushes him to use it himself in search of true love. He ultimately runs into Sundari (Janhvi Kapoor), a vibrant woman from Kerala. Through their journey a poignant and occasionally humorous examination of contemporary romance versus genuine emotional connection is provided.

Performances & Chemistry

  • Sidharth Malhotra- Maintains the film’s emotional core and lends his trademark charm to the part.
  • Janhvi Kapoor- Despite accent and cultural barriers she gives what many are describing as her most captivating performance to date: feisty, nuanced and really grounded.

With social media ablaze with positive reviews the films main talking point is the chemistry between the two. Supporters have praised them as rom-com at its very best and given them credit for advancing the plot because of their captivating dynamic.

Both the Visual and Musical Vibes

Composed by Sachin-Jigar, the soundtrack combines new energy with nostalgia. Songs with catchy melodies and a nostalgic vibe like Pardesiya and Bheegi Saree are already popular. From Delhi’s urban bustle to Kerala’s tranquil landscapes the film’s visuals seamlessly blend together to create a vibrant escapist spectacle.

What Viewers are Raving About

  • A sentimental return to Bollywood’s romantic films which are fueled by heartfelt narratives and catchy music – a new trend in Bollywood.
  • The unquestionable chemistry between the main couple keeps viewers interested throughout.

Where it is under scrutiny

  • There was a sense of inauthenticity created by some Malayali viewers who thought Janhvi’s Malayalam diction was imprecise and sometimes startling.
  • The overall plot was deemed predictable by some critics who saw it as a skillfully executed formula rather than a novel twist on rom-com traditions.
