The Delhi gang rape case at Aastha Kunj Park has taken a new turn as investigators examine alleged attempts by two accused to remove or destroy possible evidence following the incident. According to police sources cited by multiple news organisations, the accused allegedly washed the clothes they had been wearing and deleted search history from their mobile phones. Their devices have now been sent for forensic examination.
The case involves a 17-year-old girl who was allegedly sexually assaulted at Aastha Kunj Park in southeast Delhi. Police have arrested three accused and are investigating their movements, digital records and possible prior planning.
What Happened at Aastha Kunj Park?
According to the ongoing investigation, the incident occurred at Aastha Kunj Park near Kalkaji Temple. Police said the teenager was visiting the park with a male friend when the accused allegedly approached them while posing as police personnel.
Investigators are reconstructing what happened inside the park and are examining CCTV footage from surrounding areas, call records and other evidence to establish the sequence of events. The investigation is also looking into the specific role allegedly played by each accused.
The police have also added criminal-conspiracy provisions to the FIR after recovering a pistol, knife and condoms from one of the accused, according to reports. Investigators are examining whether these recoveries provide evidence of prior planning.
Accused Allegedly Washed Clothes After the Incident
One of the major developments concerns the clothes allegedly worn by two accused during the incident. Police sources told news organisations that the two brothers returned home after the alleged assault and washed their clothes, including lower garments.
Investigators are examining whether washing the clothes was intended to eliminate possible forensic evidence. The clothes were reportedly recovered near their residence when the two were arrested.
However, the significance of the clothing will ultimately depend on forensic examination. Investigators will have to determine whether any relevant biological or trace evidence remains and whether laboratory findings support the police theory.
Search History Deleted, Phones Sent for FSL Examination
The investigation has also shifted toward digital footprints. Police sources have reported that search histories were allegedly deleted from the phones of two accused.
