It has been stated that the much-hyped nuptials of Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos and his betrothed Lauren Sanchez are taking place in a form of an ultra-high-exclusivity, a multiday event that is being held in the beautiful city of Venice, Italy. Much-dubbed as the Wedding of the Century, the festivities are bound to be opulent and exuberant in nature, as a combination of high society, Hollywood glamour and Italian style with quite whopping estimates of the size of the budget spiking at 46.5million to 55.6million dollars.
It is said that the festivities are kept starting around the 24 th June and the real ceremony is supposed to be on the 27 th of June. The secret responsibilities are slowly unraveling, even though official information is closely kept secret, thoughts have it that it will be held on the main location on the exclusive island of San Giorgio Maggiore, where Bezos super yacht Koru will also play a central role. Primitive indications were of a representation on board of Koru itself, but the Venetian laws perhaps required a service on shore. It was also discussed that there would be a post wedded party at the historic Scuola Grande della Misericordia but because of the security and possible protests, it seems that the venue has been changed to the safer Arsenale complex.
The guest list is a veritable movie star attendee list with around 200-250 carefully selected names of stars in different spheres. Famous people supposedly attending the occasion include Oprah Winfrey, Gayle King, Leonardo Di Caprio, Kim Kardashian, Kris Jenner, Eva Longoria and even Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner. Natasha Poonawalla, a popular Indian socialite, who was also a part of Sanchez bachelorette party in Paris, will attend. Its guests are claimed to stay in the most luxurious hotels in the city of Venice, such as the Aman Venice hotel where a well-known couple, George Clooney, and his wife, got married.
In an attempt to patronize local Venetian business, the couple is also said to be taking a deliberate step in sourcing local materials including about 80 per cent of the wedding supplies including catering, decor and even gifts to invitees.
This includes famous locals like Rosa Salva, the oldest pastry shop in the city, and Laguna B, famous for its handblown Murano glass. Instead of traditional gifts, there were reportedly requests for donations to charitable organizations, combining luxury with philanthropy.
Despite the level of excess and exclusivity, the wedding has not been without controversy as local groups protesting against overtourism and fragile surrounding ecosystems have taken issue with the scale of the event, evident on signs stating, “If you can rent Venice, you can pay more tax.” It is believed some of the event concern led to last-minute changes of location for some parts of the celebration.
In any event, the Bezos-Sanchez wedding will be a monumental spectacle and a substantial event in the combination of wealth, celebrity, and romance on a global scale in Venice. As celebrations continue, the world is waiting to see glimpses of this much-anticipated event.
